Holidays in San Francisco
The Holiday Season is one of my favorite times of the year in San Francisco...
The lights, the decorations, the Salvation Army bell-ringers, and music blasting, all bring joy to everyone who sees and hears the holiday sights and sounds in our City!
Some neighborhoods and commercial districts go all out. It is fun to drive though some of the wealthier enclaves such as Presidio and Pacific Heights, St. Francis Wood and Sea Cliff, and to walk around Union Square and the Embarcadero. Many of our luxury hotels really "deck the halls" and anyone can wander in to enjoy a "winter wonderland" replete with red and green, TONS of lights, gingerbread houses and photos with Santa.
I am not even sure where to begin to share with you some of the wonderful places and sights to see, hear, touch, and experience. Here are some suggestions to help narrow down your options for enjoying the Holidays in San Francisco.
Civic Center Tree Lighting Ceremony
San Francisco's centrally-located Civic Center holds their annual tree lighting event on December 7. Kid-friendly, activities run from 4 pm to 7 pm and include performances, plus a visit from Santa!
There will be a toy giveaway from 4 pm to 5 pm and the first 400 children under 12 will receive a free toy!
The official tree lighting is at 5:15 pm.
You're in for a treat this evening! The event will be full of fun with music, drinks and snacks will be available. Don't miss out on some hot Irish Coffee, mulled wine, or hot chocolate while you enjoy the "wintery weather" outdoors. Warm and festive bites will also be for sale throughout the event (or nearby).
